The Worldwatch Institute site is a good way to remind everyone of the real problems in the world today. The role of IT, and systems research in particular, ought to be, in some way, to build infrastructure that solves these problems, instead of making them worse. I firmly believe that the efficiencies introduced by the free flow of information are the only way for us to create sustainable economies.
