I wonder if flash can be price/performance competitive with disk. Having heard about the imminent demise of the hard drive since 1986, I am skeptical. Drive manufacturers have enormous technical competence and huge cash flows to out-innovate practically any competitor. Nevertheless, riding on CMOS, Flash is an equally well-funded alternative, so its hard to tell.

Tech Firms Push to Use TV Airwaves for Internet - washingtonpost.com

The TV spectrum has been hogged for free by the broadcasters for decades. Given the dreck that they broadcast, this is an immense misuse of public property. Now, finally, it looks like the status quo is being challenged. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
