SOLACE: Addressing extreme urban heatwaves
Extreme urban temperatures, due to a combination of heatwaves and the urban heat island effect, are inevitable now, and will result in unprecedented conditions, such as reaching 45C every day for two weeks in London. This will cause intense human suffering from heat stress, heatstroke, and even death. We need to plan now to avoid catastrophic consequences later.
