My wife and I moved to Cambridge in September 2019 after 16 years in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and before that I spent 17 years in the USA. Before becoming a faculty member at Waterloo, I had taught at Cornell and Columbia, so reasonably familiar with the American system, and my years in Waterloo have given me some familiarity with the Canadian system as well. However, I found Cambridge quite unique. This guide is an attempt to distill my learning.
