This was a favourite story of my grandfather, S. Rangaswami.

A man gave away two identical parrots to two friends, one a sage and the other a butcher. He visited both six months later to see how they were faring. The parrot of the sage said, as he walked in, “Come. Eat. Can I help you?” The parrot of the butcher said “Cut! Chop! Kill!”.

Moral: The environment matters.
